1,800-Pound Clydesdale Rescued from Ditch in Baltimore County

Ok, this is not about trail riding specifically, but who doesn’t love feel good stories like this? Check out CBS’s coverage of rescuing a Clydesdale – no easy task.

WASHINGTON — An 1,800-pound, 7-year old Clydesdale was rescued after becoming stuck in a ditch in Baltimore County early Wednesday morning.

Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue crews responded to the 8300 block of Johnny Cake Road in Westview just before 5 a.m. to assist Baltimore County Fire and Rescue crews.

Howard County crews were requested due to their specialized training and crane equipment.

Upon arrival, crews found the Clydesdale stuck in a ditch next to a home. A veterinarian was also requested.

It took firefighters roughly 90 minutes to lift the horse out of the ditch with a crane.

There were no reported injuries.
